Formed in 2013, the Global Coalition is a collective of activists and church members that works across five continents to amplify the voice of LGBTIQ+ people of faith and to bring more attention to issues of sexuality and inclusion of minority groups at the WCC. Some of their Europe-based members are part of the European Forum family, working within the WCC working group. Ahead of the 11th WCC General Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany in September 2021, the Global Coalition is planning for ways to make a positive impact as the WCC visits European soil. It will be one of the largest international gatherings of its kind, with more than 5,000 leaders and representatives from more than 350 churches.
This year will be a crucial one for the Global Coalition as it enters a critical phase of its common preparation for Karlsruhe 2021. With divine help and blessing, its members hope that their own efforts and the wonderful collegiality that has formed between them will support their preparations.
All of the Global Coalition members are volunteers and devote considerable time and energy to their work. If you would like to support them with a donation, no matter how small, it will be gratefully received and will help with transport and admin costs when they meet in person. Please visit the European Forum Donation page and specify which project of the WCC working group you would like to help – thank you.

The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures, and therefore seek to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The European Forum attends the Assembly that meets every 7 years since 1998 in Harare and has been present at other WCC events.
