Dear colleagues,

Sisters and brothers of Inclusive and Affirming Ministries,

We as Global LGBTIQ Coalition wholeheartedly congratulate you on your 25th anniversary! It is a significant milestone you have reached.

We are inspired by how you have steadfastly walked on this challenging journey of speaking out for and with sexual minorities and diverse gender identities within varies faith communities and contexts across Southern and Eastern Africa regions. You have built a strong network of LGBTIQ people of faith, their parents, families and friends and human rights partners, amongst whom we are grateful to be a part of.

We commend your prophetic boldness, courage and endurance to walk the extra mile while accompanying churches and human rights organizations in facing prejudices, overcome ignorance, invisibility and dismantling stumbling blocks into steppingstone towards inclusion and celebration of diversity with a friendly humble attitude. Your role as catalyst for inclusion and the affirmation of LGBTIQ people of faith over the years are worthy of celebration.

You have all our respect for keeping the momentum while building this network with committed staff and volunteers who, themselves, come from such diverse background, different generations, walks of life and contexts.

We thank you for our fruitful collaboration within the World Council of Churches (WCC) context over the years: first with Rev Judith Kotze’ in 2012, the 10th  WCC Assembly in Busan, South Korea 2013, our annual exchange with WCC Staff group on Human Sexuality in Geneva and recently with Rev Ecclesia de Lange, who joined the Global Coalition in 2018. We look forward to a steady and joyful continuation of our collaboration, especially as we prepare for the 11th WCC General Assembly, planned for 2022 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

We wish you Divine blessing in your ongoing journey.

Warm regards from your Global Coalition partners in Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe.

On behalf of the Global Coalition

Gabriele Mayer, PhD, Germany
